The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) Health and Fitness Center in New York City announces its availability as a corporate internship site. This 8,000 sq. ft. facility can accommodate over 900 employee members. The program offers state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training equipment, as well as, a 1,000 sq. ft. group exercise studio. In addition to individual exercise programs and an 18 class/week group exercise schedule, NBC's Health and Fitness Center provides health education, recreation and motivational programs. Interns will be given a broad range of opportunities and experiences from this program. Fitness testing, orientating new clients, creating exercise prescriptions, leading group exercise classes, computer applications, development of individual project work, assisting with program promotion and facility operations are all fundamental to the internship. All applicants must be CPR/First Aid certified and should have a background in either physical education, health education, exercise physiology or a related area. An on-site interview is strongly recommended and exceptions are made on an individual basis only. Fitcorp's Internship Program  Description:

Founded in 1979, Fitcorp is known as one of the leading providers of corporate fitness and wellness services in the United States. From a single location in Boston’s financial district, Fitcorp has grown into a network of fitness centers that are open to the public serving over 150 corporate clients and 13,000 members throughout the Greater Boston area. Fitcorp remains focused on providing high quality fitness and worksite wellness services delivered by the industries finest degreed professionals.

 

Fitcorp offers an exciting opportunity for juniors, seniors, or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in corporate fitness and wellness. The internship enables students to experience first-hand the role of a Fitcorp employee while working as a team member in one of Fitcorp’s fitness centers.

 

In addition to demonstrating the Fitcorp Core Values and Basics, specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Demonstrate global understanding and proactive application of industry philosophy and trends related to Fitcorp
  • Adhering to and following the intern calendar by attending scheduled in-services and lectures
  • Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions with members, prospects, vendors and co-workers
  • Responsible for individual client sales involving prospecting, setting appointments, and touring guests at the facility
  • Create, conduct, and review exercise testing and prescription
  • Develop, implement, and promote incentive programs
  • Perform floorwork
  • Assist members with fitness equipment
  • Interact and build rapport with members
  • Handling telephone inquires
  • Greeting members
  • Assisting with daily deposit packages
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Assisting with any member needs
  • General clerical duties
  • Additional responsibilities as necessary

 Qualifications:

 

  • Junior, senior, or graduate of fitness related program with the completion of the following courses: Exercise Physiology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Exercise Prescription. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification

HQ Internship Program

The Pepsi Bottling Group

Company Description:

 

The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) is the world's largest manufacturer, seller and distributor of Pepsi-Cola brand beverages. The company was formed in March 1999 through one of the largest initial public offerings in the history of the New York Stock Exchange.

 

PBG generates nearly $11 billion in annual sales. PBG operates in the United States, Canada, Greece, Mexico, Spain, Russia and Turkey accounting for 55% of the Pepsi-Cola beverages sold in North America, and 40% of the Pepsi-Cola system volume worldwide.

 

Employee Wellness Services offers internship opportunities in the fall, spring and summer.   Internships are 12 weeks long, but may vary based on school requirements. Our 16,000sq ft fitness facility includes a variety of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, as well as a group exercise room.  Our outdoor facilities include a softball field, sand volleyball court and two tennis courts. The intern will work to help plan and implement various programs relating to exercise, recreation, educational seminars and special events. The internship is designed to increase the student’s practical knowledge and experience in area of health and fitness, floor work, exercise testing, assessment and evaluation, as well as skill development in personal training and group exercise instruction.  Interested candidates must be enrolled in a degree program focusing on exercise science or health promotion.  Candidates must also be CPR certified.  A stipend is available.  All interns must secure their own housing, it is not available through PBG.

 

PBG’s HQ Summer Internship Program is a great opportunity to apply classroom experience to ‘hands-on’ work in a fun, energetic and learning environment.  Interns will gain exposure to other departments via our “Lunch & Learn Program” – an overview of each function within PBG.  Moreover, interns will be required to visit one of PBG’s field locations for both a Route Ride and Plant Tour.

 

The Pepsi Bottling Group is located in Somers, NY.  All students interested in this opportunity will be required to work from this location.

Interns will gain experience in all components of a large corporate fitness center, and will prepare for placement in the field. Intern candidates must have advanced standing in undergraduate or graduate programs, and have completed basic course work in Exercise Science/Adult Fitness, or related area of study. Kraft Foods, Inc., located in Glenview and Northfield, Illinois; Tarrytown, New York; and East Hanover, New Jersey has internships available at the Kraft Foods Fitness Center (managed by Tennis Corporation of America) for undergraduate students (junior or senior), studying in the areas of exercise science, physical education, athletic training, or related field. Interns will be responsible for adhering to fitness center protocols, member interaction, administering fitness evaluations and prescriptions/orientations, group exercise presentations, promotional displays, facility and administrative duties. Current certification in CPR and First Aid are required.
