Valley Fitness Center in Renton, Washington (near Seattle)
offers a fitness/exercise science internship. Internships are a
minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week. Our programs are
different from many other internships that only allow students to
observe procedures, or have limited areas of responsibility.
Interns here will be provided the opportunity to have
independence, responsibilities and experiences necessary to gain
skills appropriate for entering the workforce. We accept one
student per term and we encourage students to apply early, as
qualified applicants are considered on a first-come basis.
Students must be completed with all coursework and have current
enrollment status with their colleges during their internships.

fitness center provides services for the community, hospital
employees and patients. Interns will have the opportunity to gain
experience and skills in the following areas: Fitness Testing;
Exercise Prescription and Instruction; Personal Training; Group
Exercise Instruction (including water exercise); Programming for
Medical Conditions and Seniors; Marketing and Promotion; Employee
Wellness Programs; Health/Fitness Presentations; Computer
Applications and Administration. The stipend is $600/for every 4
weeks.

Providence Health System has three internship positions
available in the Portland, Oregon area for undergraduates in
exercise physiology, exercise science, corporate fitness, or
related health field. The Providence Health System is one of the
most progressive, highly respected health care systems on the West
Coast, and a leader in corporate and community based fitness
programs. The Wellness/Fitness Internship Program includes two
corporate sites that are hospital based employee fitness centers,
and one community based fitness center. Requirements include: a
current CPR certificate, Senior class standing, 12 week commitment
(36-40 hrs/wk), a flexible schedule, strong interpersonal and
communication skills, and highly motivated. A familiarity of
sub-maximal exercise testing, body composition methods, and
exercise prescription is preferred. Training and practical
experience can be expected in the following areas: exercise
testing and design, exercise prescription for healthy and special
needs populations, interpretation of health risk appraisals,
reflotron training for cholesterol screens, facility supervision,
and day to day center operations. Applicants must provide their
own housing and transportation. All sites are within 15 minutes of
