Christi, Texas. We offer Junior or Senior Kinesiology/Sport
Management students the opportunity to complete their required
internship/field experience at the largest mulit-purpose health club in
south Texas. Our 110,000 sq. ft. facility houses a wide
variety of programs for our members, including a 9000 sq. ft. fitness
center. Our interns gain extensive knowledge and experience
in fitness testing, exercise prescription, member retention, marketing,
management skills, in addition to learning about the daily operations
of a large-scale health club. Internships are offered
year-round.. Program requirements include: Current
CPR/First Aid certification and a current personal training

backgrounds in exercise science, sports management, recreation, health
education, nutrition, marketing/advertising, facility operations and
program management. Intern responsibilities may include fitness
testing, nutrition, exercise counseling, fitness programming and
supervision, membership retention, health promotion and education,
teaching classes, working with volunteers, marketing and sports
management. In addition, the fall semester internship offers a special
opportunity to work directly with the management of the Dallas YMCA
Turkey Trot. This major road race event attracts 20,000 runners on
Thanksgiving morning and requires extensive work in planning,
organization and promotion. Part-time paid work is available and a
